The new gold-colored iPhone 5s has been selling for between $900 and $1,500 depending on capacity and unlocked status. And now a new record was set on eBay on Monday when a 16GB unlocked GSM gold iPhone 5s sold for $10,100. The buyer apparently has a long-time history of buying cellphone accessories. Still, that is insane!
Prior to the last two bids, the auction was stuck at the $2,500 level, but a last-minute bid of $10,000 was topped by a sniper who bid $10,100 just as the auction closed. That means there were 2 people who wanted the phone for that insane amount. We don’t know if the transaction has successfully concluded, but the item hasn’t been relisted since the auction ended. That’s not the only crazy auction. Another auction sold a three-pack of 64GB unlocked gold iPhones for nearly $5,000.
Imagine what you could do with that amount of money, besides buying an iPhone. Many worthwhile things. I hope they are happy with their purchase.
