You may have heard some rumors about Facebook being interested in acquiring Opera Software, the makers of the Opera Web browser. Is there any truth to this? We don’t know, but it is looking more likely now as the social networking giant recently removed Google’s Chrome Web browser, which is the most popular in the world, from its recommendation list. In it’s place? Opera.
Of course this move only fules the speculation of a potential buyout. Both Chrome and Safari Web browsers are supported by Facebook, but Facebook is recommending for users to use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Mozilla’s Firefox and Opera for a better experience.
The timing is certainly interesting, but until we get something more concrete, this may just be a coincidence. Although I doubt it. Time will tell.
