Cool Concepts – The Hanging Printer

Check out this concept printer from designers Jin Hee Kim, Hyung Il Kim & Woo Seok Park.

Cool Concepts - The Hanging Printer

The Hanging Printer is designed to take up hardly any space on your desk, with the bulk of the components hanging underneath the desk.

The only parts on the desk are the paper feed and the print head, and it has an embedded LCD to show you the status of the printer.

This is a great idea, I would love to see this go into production, if your like me your desk is probably cluttered with to many gadgets etc, this would be a great space saving device.

What do you think?

    looks stupid

this would be great for students that have to live in dorm rooms, and all the people stuck in cubicles. I’ll be waiting for it.

Hmm, id get one, but make it black, and maybe thinner, i dont need a whole stack in there at a time, space svaing though.

    needs a flower vase :p

    I like it.

  • ritch

looks cool…but not practical…clumsy people like myself would buy it…have it for a day…and then accidentally knock it off my desk…thus breaking it. so although it looks like a really cool ‘product design’ class project from art school…i just don’t see it working on a day to day basis.

hehe…maybe tom cruise could use it in mission impossible 4 or minority report 2…that is…if it isn’t against scientology to have a hanging printer :P

The product might look stupid but I guarantee to be a great hit.

I will most definitely be purchasing if it goes into production. My computer desk is crammed!

The LCD looks sexy! Can imagine it saying “Error”

Its a shame there is no further information on the product:

Does it have wireless capabilities? Bluetooth, Wifi etc..
    Is there memory card expansion?
Are images viewable on the LCD screen?
Does it have to sit on a straight edge? Just wondering if it would topple over..

    Clever idea!

  • Criz

That is simply slendifurius! Mangtastic! Fan Freakin Tastic!

I wouldn’t play with it. It’s very clever, but unless it’s bolted into the table the likelihood of it getting damaged is too great of a risk for me to consider purchasing one.

  • Jon

Are you guys not paying attention? They clearly show a brace underneath. It’s not going anywhere.

Fantastic! Just installed the brain box under the desk on a hangar from Ikea, am looking for a modestly priced LCD, going to route all wires under the table top and the space gained will be of interest to ‘Small Housing Society’ I’m sure! In an age of shrinking resources, being able to cram more into a smaller are has become economically imperative. This printer is right in step with the times, now, make it reliable, repairable and a laser model available, and people will stand in line to get one, myself included! P.S. If designed to print many B+W copies cheaply Bonus!
