Cool Concepts – The D:Scribe SMS and Email Pen
Check out this cool concept pen from designer Reuben Png.

The D:Scribe is a digital fountain pen that allows users to send SMS and email messages from paper. Just write out the message and circle the person’s name to send. This does away with a keypad and allows you to focus on communicating in a more personal way from anywhere as long as you have a bluetooth enabled phone and a surface to write on. The pen also records everything you write which can be accessed on a computer. Of course for the creative peeps, if writing doesn’t suit your fancy, the D:Scribe also works with genius and not so genius drawings of brilliance.

Once a message is sent, the status is displayed on the built-in OLED screen. The designers have also expanded its capabilities beyond that of messaging. Should your home electronics and appliances be bluetooth enabled, you could potentially program the pen to input commands by writing in the air. A little abstract but lets pretend this idea is more a patent for possibilities.

FFS… just another concept. A intern-designer’s wet dream.
If this is what it takes to keep your blog filled, why not just quit?

This is a brilliant idea. And the pen is a nice shape too – comfortable to write with. Great for someone like me who hates texting.

Sadpanda
If you don’t like concepts, then don’t read this blog, as there will be a lot on here in the future, there are hundreds of products I could write about every day, so I have no problem keeping the blog filled.
I happen to like design concepts, and a lot of other people do as well.
You have left similar comments on our other blog, dont you have anything better to do than leaving the same comment on every post about design concepts ?

how about a pen that can also make phonecalls! and with 4TB memory, and this little projector so you can watch movies and always have it with you. Of course it should have a battery time of 2 years!!

If I were you fatgadget I’d add a reply filter so that YOU check a reply before it gets posted… tedious I know but at least then f**kwit comments like those from sadpanda and dordo won’t get posted. Trolls like that live off abuse from web hosts and blog hosts as well as replies to their posts. I believe it is a new form of internet masochism.
I enjoyed the post and I also look forward to getting my hands on one of these pens someday.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Milander
Thank your for your comments.
I have a spam filter installed and I tend to moderate every comment, some slip through and I publish some, the only ones I dont publish are the spam ones and ones which are abusive.
I try and publish most comments, whether I agree with them or not.
cheers

Great idea, nice rendering.
Really not too far out there.
I bet I’ll be able to buy one for $79 in a few years — I hope it looks as nice.

Great idea. I love writing instruments, and this is one writing instrument that should hit the market ASAP.
