If you have any NES controllers lying around and enjoy a little gaming, you might be interested in this new hack that has been created by Paul Rickards. Who has taken a standard NES controller and modified it to work on the iCade games on the iPad.

Rickards admits the hack happened as a accident, while playing around with iMAME on his iPad together with his homebrew Commodore 64 keyboard. Which is connected to his iPad via a modded USB connection, he accidentally struck a key. Which then prompted iMAME to say “enabling iCade mode”.=

Details of a new USB specification have been released that could make the new Thunderbolt connections look a little unpowered at just 10 watts. The USB Promoter Group has announced that the next generation of USB solutions could deliver up to as much as a 100 watts via a single USB cable.

100 watts of power could be used to power larger devices and would be enough to power a LCD monitor, printers or laptops without any trouble at all. The new standard and been designed to coexist with USB Battery Charging 1.2 specifications, and is claimed to function just as well with old-school USB 2.0 connections as it does with those of the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 variety.

Why hasn’t anyone thought of these before? Actually yeah, USB ‘clips’ came to our attention many moons ago. Maybe because USBs are so ubiquitous that people have just stopped designing out of the box.

Anyway, seen below are 4GB USBs whose cases are fashioned after paperclips. It’s sensible for most work places as digital and paper files still coexist. A cool thing about them is they can be clipped onto other edges, whether it’s your necktie or a business card.

Super Talent has unveiled its newly created USB 3.0 Express RC8 flash drive which looks like a normal USB drive, however this one is powered by a SandForce SSD processor.

The addition of the SandForce processor within the new flash drive bring with it a number of great features normally only associated with first tier SSD products.

These include 8 channel architecture and virtual caching system allowing the USB 3.0 flash drive to increase it transfer speeds by accessing multiple flash channels simultaneously. Using a SandForce 1222 controller combined with 8 dual package 25nm NAND chips.

You may not know what a bias light is. It’s a light that you put behind your monitor so you aren’t staring at a bright screen in totally dark room. Apparently, some high-end animation studios use them and they are supposed to help reduce eye fatigue too. I have seen bias lights before that are really expensive.
