If you’re looking for a tiny wireless web camera. Then Thanko’s new wifi web camera is worth a look. Capable of running for five hours on one charge a small camera can capture up to 15 frames per second. Which it then sends back to the receiver plugged in to the USB port on your PC which can be up to 10 meters away.

To conserve battery power you can also attach the camera to PC via cable if required. Unfortunately it only available in Japan at the moment can be purchased for for 7,980 yen or approx. $88.62 from Thanko directly.

There are no details on exact pricing as yet, but it looks like it will retail for $125 in bulk orders, there are no details on how much it well sell for as individual units.

Remember the Freescale Smart Tablet from CES earlier this year? Well its returned with a range of compatible operating systems which now includes Android, Chromium OS or Linux.

Freescale say that adapting the open source Chromium OS and another Linux variant to the ARM architecture device was not much of a hurdle and is currently finalising an Android version as well. Check out the video for more information and a demo after the break.

At the moment the compatibility is only at the testing stages and a few hurdles need to be jumped with regards the touch screen before a production release will be available.

The Dell Precision M4500 has a screen resolution of 1920×1080 and is a HD+ sRGB LED with 100 percent color gamut.

A number of people who have ordered Intel Core i7-920 processors from New Egg, have actually received fake ones. The guys over at HardOCP are reporting that New Egg have been shipping counterfeit Intel processors to a number of their customers.

According to HardOCP around 300 of these fake processors were purchased by New Egg in a shipment of around 2,000 from a company called D&H Distributing.

Here is a video from a YouTube user who received one of these fake Intel Core i7-920 processors.

It does raise some serious questions on how these fake Intel processors got into the supply chain, and how they managed to get sent out to customers.

As you can see from the photo the Asus RT-456U router looks extremely thin, probably one of the thinnest routers we have seen to date, what we do know is that it is a 802.11n WiFi router.

Apparently the Asus RT-456U features dual band support, and the 5GHz band id used for your WiFi printers and scanners, and is very fast with 300,000 concurrent sessions available.

A team of scientists at IBM have created a technology that uses light to allow chips to communicate and replace the traditional methods using electrical signals via copper wires. The tiny silicon circuits called nanophotonic avalanche photodetectors use small pulses of light to communicate to each at super fast speeds receiving optical data signals at 40Gbps (billion bits per second) and simultaneously multiply them tenfold.

These next generation communication methods could bring super speed computers that are also very energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

The IBM device explores the “avalanche effect” in Germanium, a material currently used in production of microprocessor chips. Analogous to a snow avalanche on a steep mountain slope, an incoming light pulse initially frees just a few charge carriers which in turn free others until the original signal is amplified many times. Conventional avalanche photodetectors are not able to detect fast optical signals because the avalanche builds slowly.
