Acer have unveiled their latest addition to their Aspire One netbook range, the Acer Aspire One 532G, which is the first of Acer’s netbooks to use NVIDIA’s latest ION 2 platform.

The Acer Aspire One 532G features a 10.1 inch LED backlit display, a 1.66GHx Intel Atom N450 prcoessor, and an NVIDIA GT218 GPU that comes with 512MB of dedicated memory.

The Acer Aspire One 532G also features dedicated Intel graphics, and it switches between the two graphics processors for different tasks, using the GT218 for games and other processes that need more powerful graphics and the integrated Intel graphics for more basic tasks.

What this does, is give the netbook a longer battery life of around ten hours which seems pretty impressive. The Acer Aspire One 532G will be available sometime in March, there are no details on pricing as yet.

It looks like Asus is going to be releasing a new range of Eee PC netbooks based around NVIDIA’s second ION platform, Ion 2, and we could end up seeing them in the stores as early as spring.

Asus have already confirmed that they are releasing an ION 2 based all in one PC or nettop, which will feature NVIDIA’s ION 2 based chipset and it looks like they will be bringing the platform to their Asus Eee PC netbook range.

Although no details has been confirmed as yet, it looks like we may see the new netbooks this spring, although knowing Asus’s release schedule it could be later in the year as we have only just seen their first Eee PC netbooks with the first NVIDIA Ion chipset.

The NVIDIA Ion 2 chipset is expected to provide improvements to video playback and an increased battery life, it will be interesting to see what improvements there are over the original Ion chipset.

A couple of weeks ago we told you that Google [GOOG] intends to launch its own Google Chrome branded netbook, and that they had been working closely with a number of manufacturers to develop the device.

Now it looks like specifications have been leaked for the new Google Chrome OS netbook, according to the guys over at IBTimes.

It seems like the Google netbook will use NVIDIA’s Tegra platform and will feature an ARM processor, on top of that there will be a 10.1 inch multi-touch LCD display that will support HD.

Storage will come in the form of a 64GB SSD, and it will also feature 2GB of RAM, plus WiFi, Bluetooth, built in 3G and a web camera.

The Google netbook will come with Google’s Chrome OS, and will have a range of Google Applications pre-installed, like Gmail etc, and it looks like it is going to cost around $300 which is a subsidized price as you will have to sign up to a 3G contract with a range of mobile operators.

The specifications sound pretty good, as well as the price compared to other netbooks currently available with a 3G contract. It looks like the Google Chrome netbook will be available just before Christmas in 2010 as reported previously.
