AT&T Approves VoIP Apps over its 3G Network

You will now be able to make Skype calls over 3G with AT&T who have just approved Voip to be used over their 3G network. Previously, VoIP applications on iPhone were enabled for Wi-Fi connectivity. It will also open the door for more VoIP apps very shortly we are sure.

The founder of Digg Kevin Rose has been spotted playing with the a Digg iPhone app in London while attending the Future of Web Apps conference.

The Crave crew he was hanging out with tried to get more information but Rose was tight lipped and said “You’re not even supposed to know about that.”

Apple iPhone Apps Reach 2 Billion Downloads

Apple [AAPL] has today announced another milestone it its massively popular iPhone and iPod Touch App store, they have now reached a massive 2 billi0n iPhone apps downloaded.

The news comes just five month after Apple announced, back in April that their app store had reached a massive 1 Billion downloads, and shows just how popular the iPhone and the app store is.

SmartScreen iPhone App

SmartScreen is an applictaion for the iPhone and iPod Touch that lets you place informational widgets on your iPhone’s lock screen, and the widgets have a similar look to the ones on Apple’s dashboard.

The SmartScreen iPhone App has been developed by a company called MediaPhone, who will also be releasing an SDK for it so users and developers will be able to program their own widgets, check out the video of it in action after the break.

Bionic Eye Augmented Reality iPhone App

Bionic Eye is a cool iPhone app that was designed for the iPhone 3GS and it lets you visualize point of interest on your iPhone 3GS using augmented reality.

The app highlights restaurants, WiFi spots, subway stations with a total of 100,000 points of interest throughout the US, and there is also a version that will work in the UK, France and Tokyo, check out the video of it in action below.

Apple Pulls Commodore 64 Emulator App Due To Basic Hack

Yesterday we told you that the previously turned down Commodore 64 iPhone Emulator app, was now available in iTunes, the reason it was turned down by Apple was that users of the app could run Basic on the emulator which is against Apples SDK terms and conditions.

When we reported on the approval of the app yesterday, it appeared that Basic had been removed from the App, and this was why it was approved.

Spotify iPhone App Now Available

We mentioned the other week that Apple has approved the Spotify iPhone App, well it looks like it is now available as a free download from iTunes.

Spotify is a music subscription service that streams music direct to your iPhone, the main difference between Spotify and other music streaming Apps is that it lets you download the music direct to your iPhone, and then you can listen to your playlists when your iPhone isn’t connect to 3G or WiFi.
