Fun Stuff – The Stargate Mirror

If your a Stargate fan then check out this fun Stargate Mirror.

stargate mirror

Normally made of Naquahdah (and once unsuccessfully made of titanium) and 22 feet wide, our scientists have used glass and polystone to shrink the dimensions down to a mere 10 inches across. All you need is a Zero Point Module to power it, and you’re good to go. Convenient enough, now, to hang on your wall. When you’re not actively powering the gate to generate a wormhole, you can look at your reflection in the event-horizon.

The Stargate mirror is available to buy online for $49.99 from ThinkGeek.

Fun Toys – The Bladez 3D RC Helicopter

Check out this fun toy, the Bladez 3D RC Helicopter.

bladez 3d rc helicopter

First time pilots need not apply because this robustly constructed beast has been designed with intermediate to advanced flyers in mind. In fact it reminds us of one of those old-school petrol-driven monsters. The difference is it won’t explode if it crashes in the bedroom. Even so, we don’t recommend taking it for a spin in a small room as it’s liable to scalp the cat and rip your Colonel Kilgore posters to shreds.

bladez 3d rc helicopter

As well as precise 360° movement and smooth hovering performance, the Bladez 3D boasts an intelligent R/C system that avoids interference with other R/C users. And that’s just as well because fellow flyers will want to take command of this brawny ‘copter by any means necessary.

A 30 minute charge will give you 8 minutes flying time, which is more than enough to hone your skills and re-enact your piloting fantasies. Just remember you’ll be doing all this outdoors so you might want to tone down the ‘Aargh, I’m going down’ pilot-speak. However, big shades and a leather blouson remain obligatory. So hurry up and get ordering. Our shipment of Bladez 3Ds is cleared and ready for take off. Who says the ceiling’s the limit?

The Bladez 3D RC Helicopter is available to buy online for $98.60 from Firebox

Fun Toys – The Picoz RC Insecta Helicopter

Here’s a fun RC toy, the PicoZ Insecta Helicopter.

picoz RC insecta helicopter

What do you get when you cross an ultra-manoeuvrable palm-size infra-red helicopter with an insect? Stumped? You should be because Insecta is unlike any other flying gizmo around. Well okay, technically it’s almost identical to the best-selling PicoZ Micro Helicopter. The difference is this sinister-looking whirlybird resembles some kind of alien robo-bug. How cool is that?

With its big glowing eyes, bug-ish legs, LED strobe light, colourful camouflaged body and membranous X-rotors, the rechargeable Insecta looks as if it’s just flown out of a sci-fi movie or the twisted mind of a comic book creator. Indeed you might feel like wearing your pants outside your tights every time you take to the skies. Or not.

The Picoz Insecta Helicopter is available to buy online for $29.90 from Firebox.

Geeky Toys – Tengu

Here’s a fun gadget to brighten up your desk, Tengu, the lip syncing desktop friend.

Tengu

Bright LEDs in Tengu’s sleek rectangular face respond to any sound, so as well as gurning away to the music you play, this hip little square also moves its lips as you merrily type away. Tengu will even lip sync as you speak (although chatting to a USB peripheral, albeit an über-stylish one, is not something we’d recommend).

Unlike other USB peripherals Tengu can’t make the tea, backup files or even make the day go faster. In fact Tengu doesn’t really do that much at all. But seeing as you’ve got enough time to fritter away the day reading this nonsense, neither do you. It’s a win-win scenario any way you slice it.

With over 14 different facial expressions, Tengu is infinitely more emotive than your average office bod and is guaranteed to cheer you up every time you clap eyes on it. Of course there are other, more useful ways to employ your USB ports but none of them combine music, miming and dodgy face-pulling. And if that’s not reason enough to hit the Buy button we don’t know what is.

Check out this video of Tengu in action.

Tengu is available to buy online for $39.60 from Firebox.

Geeky Toys – The Electronic Bubble Wrap Keychain

Here’s a fun toy to annoy your friends with, the Electronic Bubble Wrap Keychain.

electronic bubble wrap keychain

Each keychain device has 8 rubbery little “bubble” buttons. They have a pretty close tactile feel to actual bubble wrap. Guess what happens when you push one? That’s right, you hear a little pop. In a nutshell, that is the simple beauty of the electronic bubble wrap keychain. But there is one bonus, and here’s where the OCD can kick in a little. Every 100th “pop” is not a pop at all, but a silly sound: a boing, a bark, a rude noise, etc. And since you can easily pop (pun intended) the keychain in your pocket, you’ll always have bubble wrap when you need it most (you know, like when your boss starts talking).

Check out this video of it in action.

The Electronic Bubble Wrap Keychain is available to buy online for $9.99 from ThinkGeek.
