We have already seen one manufacturer launch an Android powered point and shot camera, Polaroid with their new Polaroid SC1630, and now it would appear that Samsung is looking into producing a camera which runs Google’s mobile OS.

Samsung recently filed a trademark with the USPTO, for the ‘Samsung Galaxy Camera’, and the trademark is related to goods and services with cameras and camcorders.

Sony has released details of a new Cybershot camera that they are launching in Japan, the Sony Cybershot TX300V, which shares many of the hardware specifications of the Sony TX200V.

What this new device features over the previous model is a wireless charging ans transfer dock, by placing the TX300V on the dock, the cameras battery is charged wirelessly and you can also transfer your photos to your computer using TransferJet.

Olympus has unveiled their latest Micro Four Thirds camera, the Olympus OM-D E-M5, and this new camera takes its design inspiration from the classic Olympus OM line of compact 35mm SLR’s from the 70′s.

The Olympus OM-D E-M5 features a 16.1 megapixel Live MOS Sensor and TruPic VI image processing engine, it also features a high resolution electronic viewfinder, and a FAST AF, plus new 3D AF tracking.

Pentax Optio WG-2 And WG-2 GPS Rugged Cameras Unveiled

Pentax has unveiled its new line of “lifeproof” cameras, the Optio WG-2 and WG-2 GPS this week. Which have built on the success of the rugged Pentax WG-1. The new cameras mark the thirteenth generation of rugged “adverture-proof” compact digital cameras, Pentax has launched, and they will be available in red, white, black, and orange.

On the outside the new Pentax WG-2 may not look hugely different to its predecessor, but many of the changes have taken place inside. Which now includes a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with a 16 megapixel resolution.

Olympus has today announced the launch of its new Olympus SZ-31MR iHS camera, which is equipped with a 24 x Wide-Angle Optical Zoom Lens, 25-600 mm zoom equivalent in 35-mm format, and 16 megapixel sensor. Which allows it to simultaneously capture 1080p HD Video and 16-Megapixel still images without missing a frame.

Olympus’s new iHS technology has been designed to provide consistently sharp and vivid images in any situation. iHS reduces picture noise and enhances resolution and colour gradation despite fast-moving subjects, night scenes and other tricky to capture shots.

Canon has introduce a new series of compact cameras to their ELPH series range in the form of the ELPH 530 and 320. The new Canon compact cameras have been designed to use a complimentary iOS application developed by Canon called the CameraWindow.

Canon CameraWindow enables users to quickly view and transfer photography wirelessly. Canon says that support for Android devices will be arriving in May later this year. As far as specifications go the ELPH 530 HS which will be priced at around $349.99 when it arrives in April. Is equipped with a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor, 12x optical zoom lens, together with the same DIGIC 5 image processor.

Pentax K-01 Mirrorless Camera Officially Launched (video)

Today Pentax has officially announced the new highly anticipated Pentax K-01 mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera. Which is equipped with the same K-mount lens mount used by Pentax’s DSLR lenses. The design for the new Pentax K-01 has been created by Australian industrial designer Marc Newson, featuring a rubberised, ribbed grip covering on an aluminium frame.

The Pentax K-01 has been built around a 16-megapixel APS-C sensor, providing roughly 13 times the size of the 1/2.3-inch-type sensor found in the Pentax Q. ISO settings range from ISO 100 to ISO 25,600, and burst mode provides 6 frames per second capture at full resolution, and the camera will capture 1080p video at 24 fps, 25 fps, and 30 fps, as well as 720p video at 60 fps.

Earlier we saw the new Nikon Coolpix P310 compact camera, and now Nikon has announced the Nikon Coolpix P510, which is the replacement for the Nikon Coolpix P500.

The Nikon Coolpix P510 features a 42x optical zoom lens that has a range of 24mm to 1000mm (Equivalent in 35-mm [135] format), and it features the same 16.1 megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor that is found in the Coolpix P310.

The Nikon Coolpix 310 features a 16.1 megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor, it comes with an ISO range of up to 3200 or a Hi 1 setting which is equivalent to 6400.

Apple has today announced a new update 10.0.3 thats rolling out for its new Final Cut Pro X video editing software which launched around seven months ago. The new FCPX update brings with new features including multicam editing that automatically syncs up to 64 angles of video and photos.

The new Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 update also includes a multitude of new tools including for editing and now automatically syncs clips from your shoot using audio waveforms, time and date, or timecode. To create a Multicam Clip using up to 64 angles, which can include frame sizes, mixed formats, and frame rates, and which can be edited using a new powerful Angle Editor to fine tune your projects.

We have already seen a couple of new compact camera from Panasonic today, and now we have another new one, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX80, which comes with a bright F2.5 LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMARIT lens.

According to the announcement, the F2.5 lens is 25 percent brighter than the F2.8 lens, and it offers a faster shutter speed, and is capable of capturing clear blur free images even in low light.

Bot of these new compact cameras are designed to rugged and the TS4 is waterproof up to 40 feet, and can withstand a drop of up to 6.6 feet, it is also dust-proof and can stand temperatures down to 14F.

Pentax has added another compact camera to their line up with the launch of the Pentax Optio VS20, which is described as a pocket megazoom, and it features a 20z optical zoom lens with a range of 28mm to 560mm.

The Pentax Optio VS20 features a 16 megapixel CCD sensor, and the device comes with dual shutter buttons, on top of the camera you get a standard zoom control and shutter button, and on the side of the camera there is a secondary shutter release button and a zoom control.

Sony has announced that it will soon be launching a new editing suite for its PS3 called PlayMemories within the European PlayStation community. That will enable users to be able to edit photographs and videos directly from their PS3 consoles.

The new PS3 PlayMemories suite will be arriving in March and will be priced at around €10 or $13, once it arrives. The news was announced by a Sony representative during the London Sony event earlier this week. The PS3 PlayMemories application was also on show at the recent CES exhibition.

Samsung NX20 Announcement Arriving Next Month?

Following on from the recent suspected leakage of images and specifications for Samsung’s new retro-styled NX200 RS camera earlier this month. Rumours are now circulating suggesting that Samsung’s new NX20 camera could be making an appearance via an announcement in February. With the new camera expected to start shipping in April.

It’s rumoured that the new Samsung NX20 will have a similar retro-look and feel to the recently leaked Samsung NX200-RS pictured below. Following in the retro theme which is being displayed by other manufacturers such as Fujifilm and Olympus.

Canon recently announced the Canon Eos C300 digital cinema camera, and now it looks like the device will launch in Japan on the 31st of January 2012, with a US release shortly after that date.

The Canon EOS C300 features a Super 35mm CMOS sensor with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, and it will be available with either a Canon EF lens mount of a Cinema standard PL lens mount.

Sony has announced two new camera sensors designed to be used in smartphones, and both of these new sensors use a new RGBW matrix which adds a white pixel to the normal RGB layout.

This is designed to improve light sensitivity and produce better photographs at low light, and Sony has said that normally adding a white pixel would reduce image quality, they have managed to implement it whilst improving the image quality.

Samsung announced their NX200 compact system camera back in September of last year, and now it looks like the company is about to reveal a new model, the Samsung NX200 RS, which is reported to come with a retro design.

The specifications on the Samsung NX200 RS are expected to be the same as the original NX200, it will feature a new design with a silver top plate which is designed to give it a retro look, the first photo below is of the new RS version.

Casio has added another compact camera to their Exilim range, with the launch of the Casio EX-ZR200, which is capable of shooting up to 30 frames per second at full resolution.

The Casio EX-ZR200 can be adjusted to shoot between 3 and 30 frames per second, and as well as being able to shoot high speed photos it can also record Full HD video in 1080 at 30 fps.

JVC Unveils Worlds First 4k Camcorder

JVC has unveiled its new 4k camcorder at CES this week, which is the worlds first handheld 4k camcorder of its kind. The new JVC GY-HMQ10, offers a massive 3840 x 2160 resolution for footage.

The new JVC GY-HMQ10 s powered by HVC’s Falconbrid large-scale integration (LSI) chip and has a half inch CMOS imager with 8.3 million active pixels, and is expected to be priced around £4340 or $6700 when it starts shipping in March to the UK.

Here on Geeky Gadgets we have featured a number of different devices capable of allowing you to take 360 degree panoramic photographs, including the Panoramic ball cam and the Kogeto iCONIC 360 Panoramic Lens.

But during CES this week a new device has been unveiled called the Tamaggo 360 Imager. Which has been specifically designed to take 360 degree panoramic photos, with out the need for any other device. The palm sized camera is equipped with a special “panomorph” lens, and has a 2 inch LCD screen for viewing shots underneath.

Polaroid has launched a new camera at CES, although this camera is different than anything we have seen from Polaroid before as it is powered by Google Android, the Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera.

From the front of the Polaroid SC1630 you could easily mistake it for a smartphone, it comes with a 16 megapixel sensor plus a 3x optical zoom lens and a 3.2 inch touchscreen display.

D-Link has introduced their new Cloud Camera 5000 at CES this week, which provides a versatile surveillance solution for a home or small office. The Cloud Camera is equipped with pan/tilt capabilities, automatic day/night viewing, remote control, and a microSD slot for local recording if required.

All adjustments to the camera can be made remotely and provide a view area of 340 degrees (170 degrees on each side). The Cloud Camera 5000 can either be set to stream clear live HD video footage at 720p high-definition of up to 30 fps or send the footage to the local microSD for viewing at a later time.

Canon just announced the new Powershot GX 1, and on top of that the company has also announced two new compact cameras, the Canon PowerShot ELPH 520 and the ELPH 110.

Canon has announced the latest camera in its Powershot range, the Canon Powershot G1X, which features a 1.5 inch 14.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, which is apparently the largest sensor that Canon has used in their Powershot range.

The Canon Powershot G1x features an ISO range up to 12800, and a 4x optical zoom lens with an aperture of f/2.8 to f/16, and it is capable of recording full high definition video in 1080p.

Earlier we saw the new Samsung InTouch, which is an add on camera for your HDTV and now Samsung has introduced a couple of new WiFi based cameras, the Samsung WiFi SmartCam and the Samsung Video Baby Monitor.

Both devices can be connected to WiFi, and they can then be viewed through the web on Samsung’s SmartCam website, they are capable of capturing 640 x 480 video in H.264 at 30 frames per second.

Nikon has unveiled its latest DSLR, the Nikon D4, and it comes with a 16.2 megapixel full format CMOS sensor and it features an ISO up to 204,800, plus a 91k pixel 3D color matrix meter and a 51 point auto-focus tracking system.

The Nikon D4 features a 3.2 inch LCD, plus a built in Ethernet port, plus two AF buttons for shooting in portrait mode, and all of the buttons on the D4 are backlit.

Fujifilm has announced a variety of new cameras to its range today ahead of them being showcased and CES next week. Two of these are the Fujifilm XP150 and XP100 rugged waterproof compact cameras.

Both have been designed with a rugged case and rubberised finish to protected them against hostile environments. Allowing them to be used in up to 10m of water, as well s being shockproof from drops upto 2m, dust/sand proof and freezeproof to –10°C.

As well as unveiling a their new Logitech Cube Mouse, which will be making an appearance at this years CES. Logitech has also announced a new HD webcamera in the form of the Logitech C920 HD. Which allows you to communicate via video in full 1080p high definition.

The new Logitech C920 is the first webcamera to offer full 1080p HD video conferencing with the latest version of Skype, and will provide a lower 720p when used with Microsoft Live Messenger.

Fujilfim X-S1 Bridge Camera Headed To The US

The Fujilfim X-S1 was announced back in November, and it will go on sale in the UK next month, now Fujifilm has announced that the X-S1 will go on sale in the US for $799 at the end of January.

As a reminder the Fujifilm X-S1 is a bridge camera with a a Fujinon 26x optical zoom lens, plus digital zoom of up to 52x with a 35mm equivalent range of 24-1248mm.
