Apple To Sell Ready Made Ringtones For the iPhone
Cnet are reporting that Apple (AAPL) has obtained rights to sell ready made ringtones for the iPhone from iTunes, and apparently they are rushing to get them ready for next weeks Apple Special Event.

Apple will announce the ringtones on September 9, the day the company has scheduled a press event, if managers can get them ready in time to sell, the sources said. An Apple spokesman declined to comment.
At the moment you can create custom ringtones in iTunes for $0.99 each, where you can select up to 30 seconds of a track and save it as a ringtone, there are no details on pricing of the new Apple iPhone ringtones, but it suspect they will probably sell for a similar $0.99

Hi Elder Norm
Thanks for your comment, at the moment you can make a custom ringtone in iTunes using a song.
What they are proposing to do is sell actual ringtones already made, so rather than creating a custom ringtone of your favourite track you would just be able to download a ready made one.
