Apple has several offices in London but no central HQ that houses all of its employees in one place. Well, now it will have a cool new HQ. The company has confirmed that it’s moving into a London landmark.
The new London HQ is going to be set up inside Battersea Power Station which is a landmark building that everyone knows worldwide
The Battersea Power Station was built in the 1930s and it has been mostly left alone for about three decades before it was finally purchased by a Malaysian consortium in 2012. Now, an area of 42 acres is being developed, half of which will house restaurants, shops, hotels and housing projects.
Apple’s HQ will be located in the former central boiler house of the Battersea Power Station. This will be the largest office tenant at the site.
Construction will take time, so they will move in by 2021. The offices will take up 500,000 sq feet of space across six floors. This is great news because as UK Finance Minister Philip Hammond points out, it’s a sign that global businesses are not shying away from investing in the United Kingdom even after they left the European Union. That is a good sign indeed.
