According to a recent report by Electrek, Apple has hired former Tesla VP of Vehicle Engineering Chris Porritt, who will now be working on special projects at Apple.
Chris Porrit is also a former Chief Engineer at luxury car maker Aston Martin and he is expected to take charge of the Apple Car project as the previous head of the project, Steve Zadesky is rumored to have now left Apple.
Apple are expected to launch their first vehicle in either 2020 or 2021, the car is said to be a fully electric vehicle. The company has been working on the project in California in the US and there have been rumors that the vehicle has was in development in the US since last year.
As we heard earlier in the week Apple has a new secret lab in Germany which has between 15 and 20 emloyees, these employees are said to all be experts from the German car industry.
It makes sense for Apple to also develop its vehicle in Germany as the company has a long history of producing high quality cars from the likes of BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi and more.
