We have heard rumors before about Amazon developing a smartphone of its own before. In this case the smartphone is reportedly going to be manufactured by Foxconn in China, and is expected to be released in either Q2 or Q3, 2013.
In March it was reported that the Amazon smartphone had run into production issues which would cause a delay. The device is rumored to have a 4.7 inch display, but other technical specifications are still unknown at this point.
The Wall Street Journal is now reporting that Amazon is developing two smartphones, not one, and one of them is going to have a 3D display. The 3D capable smartphone will not require any special glasses to be worn and will use retina tracking technology which would make objects on the display appear as if they were floating like a hologram and appear three-dimensional. Users will also be able to navigate through content using their eyes only. We will have to wait and see if this is accurate. If so, there may be a new player in the field very soon.
