Alaris30 Desktop 3D Printing System
The Alaris30 is a new 3D Printing System from Objet Geometries, who were kind enough to send us details of this new 3D Printer, before the official press release.
The Alaris30 Desktop 3D printer, prints out highly detailed 3D models, and I have to say from the sample that we received they are very impressive.
The models are printed out using Objet’s patented Polyjet Inkjet Technology, which works by printing the photopolymer materials in thin layers onto a tray, and then building up the model layer by layer.
The Alarisâ„¢30 will enable firms to enhance their competitiveness by applying the most advanced in-house rapid prototyping capabilities available,†said Adina Shorr, CEO of Objet Geometries. “This system allows enterprises to create models with an unprecedented degree of detail while shortening design cycles, reducing cost of errors, promoting team creativity and further ensuring confidentiality – all from the desktop.â€
The model we were sent, was the car (pictured above), and it is very impressive with moving wheels and cogs.

While such devices (I know this kind of thing as stereo lithography, but I think that involves lasers of some kind) seem like novelties for now, they represent the future of mass production.
Trust me, in the coming decades, not a single human hand will be involved in the production of anything emerging from devices that are the descendants of these things.
We won’t build stuff, we’ll be growing them out of a soup of chemicals, assembled one atom at a time by trillions of nanomachines…

all this is so damn cool but the thing that i don’t understand is how the heck one does the scanning of the 3d objects.

Hi Sid
I think the objects are created using a CAD program.
