Aegis Padlock Secure Hard drive
Yesterday we showed you a USB drive with a PIN lock, the Personal Pocket Safe USB drive, today we have a hard drive with a built in PIN lock, the Aegis Padlock Secure Hard drive.
The Aegis Padlock Secure Hard drive features a built in keypad that lets you enter a PIN to access your data.

It comes with AES-128 or 256 bit encryption and connects to your PC via USB, it also has a built in administrator feature that lets you set up to ten different IDs and one administrator.
The Aegis Padlock Secure Hard drive comes in a variety of sizes from 250GB, 320GB and 500GB, prices for 128-bit AES models starts at $100 up to $140, whilst the 256-bit AES models start at $120 up to $160.

There is a big difference in the security between this storage drive and the previously shown Personal Pocket Safe. The Aegis drive can be hacked via the USB computer connection. Personal Pocket Safe, on the other hand, is immune to computer/Internet based hacking attempts due to its DataLock protection. There is no open communication channel between the computer and the drive UNTIL the PIN is entered.

Agreed – this is not as safe of a device as the Personal Pocket Safe but it does provide larger storage capacity.
