New Star Wars Video Game Franchise Announced
After killing off the best ones, transforming one into a middle of the road MMO and creating a new one that the vast majority of humanity prefers wouldn’t have existed (the one with Bobba Fett’s gyrating hips, if you’re wondering), Lucas Arts is apparently putting together a new Star Wars video game franchise.

Demon’s Souls Servers Staying Open Indefinitely
It looks like both Atlus’s Demon’s Souls server samba and the game’s fluctuating trade-in price are coming to a halt. The publisher has made a firm commitment to keep the game’s servers open for the ”foreseeable future” with barely a week to spare betweent he previously announced shutdown date.

Former Infinity Ward Heads West, Zampella On Why Activision Sued
While this particular slice of drama has been revisited a few too many times already, a new GameInformer interview sees ousted Infinity Ward heads West and Zampella in a rather more affable and earnest mood. The reason Activision fired and sued them? “We deprived them of our services by being fired and therefore we owe them money,” jokes West.

38 Studios, Big Huge Games Lay Off Entire Staff
I’d expected 38 Studios’ death spiral to go on for a while longer, but the plug has been unceremoniously pulled on the Kingdoms of Amalur developer: 38 Studios has laid off its entire staff of 379. Whether this will result in the company defaulting on its $50 million loan, leading the state of Rhode Island to assume ownership of the Amalur IP is unclear, as is the state of the Copernicus MMO 38 was developing.

Apple Settles Long-Running Patent Infringement Suit with Simple Air
Apple has finally announced that it has settled a long-running patent dispute between it and a company called SimpleAir. SimpleAir filed a patent infringement suit against Apple back in 2009 in the US District Court in the Eastern District of Texas. That suit alleged Apple was infringing on four patents having to do with the transmission of data and alerts for unconnected users.

Apple iPen For iOS Devices Revealed In Patents
Apple Patents have been discovered that reveal Apple, may be looking to launch a iPen stylus for its iPad and iPhone devices. Following along the the lines of Samsung with its Galaxy Note 10.1 stylus.
The Patents discovered by Patently Apple, include details of a new iPen that uses haptic feedback to help the user navigate within applications and around the tablet.

Toshiba Has No Plans For New Netbooks In The US
