31 Percent Of PlayStation 4 owners previously owned the Xbox 360 and Wii

ps4switchDid you buy a new Sony PlayStation 4? You were only one of 7 million plus people to do so. Maybe you wondered if it is just PS4 owners who are upgrading from the PS3. Or if maybe they be coming from a different console?

According to PlayStation America’s VP of Marketing, John Koller, at least a third of PlayStation 4 owners have come from either the Xbox 360 or the Nintendo Wii. If true, that is great news for Sony. Talk about winning over the competition. Koller stated that 31% of PS4 owners came from the Xbox 360 or the Wii. So this suggests that these players were looking for something new that those consoles were not offering.

He also stated that 17% of PlayStation 4 gamers previously did not own a last-gen gaming console at all, so this current console is doing a good job of attracting people back into gaming, or getting them into gaming for the first time. Apparently, the price, features and titles for the PS4 are really winning hearts and minds. Koller says of the gamers who are purchasing the console now, “They are the people who, when you walk in [to their home], there’s no books on their book shelves. They’re all game packages. They’re the people who stood in line at midnight [for the console’s launch]. They really are a fantastic consumer for us. They’re a great part of the PlayStation nation.”
