BYU Students Build Batman Style Grappling Hook (Video)

Students at BYU have created their own batman style grappling hook that actually works, and the device was created taking its inspiration from the Batman Dark Knight movies.

The students have created the grappling hook gun for an Air Force contest, and the device can shoot a grappling hook up to 90 feet away, and then automatically pull the person up, have a look at the video of it in action below.

James Bond Theme Played Using 8 Floppy Drives (video)

We have featured a number of different themes being played by floppy drives here on Geeky Gadgets over the years, such as the Star Wars Imperial March also played by a selection of floppy disk drives..

Huawei Working On Windows 8 Smartphones And Tablets?

According to a recent report, smartphone makers Huawei is working on two Windows Phone 8 smartphones, as well as some Windows 8 based tablets, and one of the smartphones is expected to feature similar components used in Huawei’s recent Android devices.

The company has apparently assembled a team of 70 engineers who are working on the two Windows Phone 8 devices and they are also apparently working on a new design for a Windows Phone 8 smartphone.

Valve’s Steam Software Arriving On Linux Soon

After a long wait in now seems as though Steam for Linux might actually be arriving in the next couple of months. Valve’s gaming distribution software Steam, has been available on PC systems since it was revealed to the public on 22 March 2002 at the Game Developers Conference.

Since then the game platform has arrived on Mac systems worldwide on May 12, 2010. Providing a much needed gaming service for the neglected Mac gaming scene.

Another Galaxy S III Dummy Box Photo Leaked

Samsung has apparently been testing out its new Galaxy S III smartphone in dummy cases, with a number of mobile carriers, last week we saw a photo of the Galaxy S III in a dummy box, and now we have another photo of the device in a different dummy case.

The photo below appeared on a Chinese mobile forum, mobile01, and as you can see from the photo, this version has a larger menu button than the stock Android 4.0.

Meizu MX And M9 To Get Android 4.0 ICS Update In June

Meizu has announced that two of its Android smartphones, the Meizu MX and The Meizu M9 will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update in June.

The Android 4.0 ICS update will be released for the dual core Meizu MX as well as the new quad core version, plus the Meizu M9 Android handset as well, and it will come in the form of Flyme OS 1.0, which is a custom skinned version of Android 4.0.
