Google Me Social Network To Take On Facebook

It seems that Google [GOOG] is working on a new project which it hopes will rival the worlds biggest social network, Facebook. The project could be called Google Me, and if reports are true, Google Me is a very high priority within the Google camp.

The rumor first started when Digg’s Kevin Rose, mentioned it in a tweet, ‘OK, umm, huge rumor: Google to launch facebook competitor very soon ‘Google Me’, very credible source, Kevin Rose has since deleted the tweet, you can see it in the picture below.

Microsoft Windows 8 Roadmap Leaked?

It seems that Microsoft’s [MSFT] roadmap for the next version of Windows, Windows 8 may have been leaked by a slide show that has turned up on an Italian Windows blog Windowsette.

Microsoft has declined to comment on the slide shows authenticity, which gives the impression that it could be legitimate, and the slides have been watermarked with ‘Microsoft Confidential’

Amazon Kindle For Android Released

Amazon has just released their Kindle for Android application, and it will run on any Android device that is running Google Android 1.6 or above. The Amazon Kindle for Android application allows you to sync your books, bookmarks with other Kindle devices.

You can start reading an ebook on your Kindle, and then pick up where you left off on your way to work on your Android smartphone or device.

Management Company Takes Over Foxconn Worker Dorms in China

Foxconn has been at the heart of lots of controversy this year after ten workers killed themselves. The deaths were blamed on low morale and poor working conditions in the media. Apple cut its profits on the iPad to give the workers a raise in early June.

Foxconn was also rumored to be considering closing its Chinese operations altogether. Foxconn has now reportedly turned the management of its worker dorms over to a management company. Foxconn has 153 dorms that house 450,000 workers.

Acer Predator gaming desktops pack high-end hardware into cases that always remind me of Halloween with the orange and black color scheme. The machines typically have edgy case deigns, and the new AG7750-U2222 Predator is no exception.

iPhone 4 Costs $188 To Build?

As soon as Apple releases a new iPhone, the guys over at iSuppli give us some figures on how much Apple’s latest handset costs in parts, and according to their latest report this years iPhone 4 costs just $188 to make.

The most expensive component in the new iPhone 4 is the new Retina display, which apparently costs just $28.50, although these costs are for parts only and not for labor and other costs like shipping and advertising.

UK Ofcom May Force ISPs to Reveal Access Restriction At Peak Times

British ISPs such as BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk may already restrict access to some websites at peak times while favouring others, it has been revealed by UK regulator Ofcom.

During peak Internet traffic periods UK Network providers are able to control access to data-heavy websites such as multi-player role-playing games, video-players and download sites to manage traffic on their networks.

It always a amazes me why new gadgets have to be put thorough a destructive process, but I do enjoy watching a few of the stranger ones. I was particularly impressed the way Apples new iPhone 4 took a .50 Cal round from a sniper rifle and was still basically in one piece. All be it with a .50 cal hole in it.

Apple Sells 1.7 Million iPhone 4′s In Three Days

Apple [AAPL] has just announced its sales figures for the iPhone 4, they have sold a total of 1.7 million iPhone 4′s from Thursday the 24th of June 2010 until Saturday the 26th of June.

That figure is very impressive, when you take into account that Apple had sold 600,000 iPhone 4′s to pre-order customers, that means they have sold a massive 1.1 million iPhone 4′s on top of the pre-orders, making this the most successful product launch for Apple.
